About Visit Herts

Visit Herts, a Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP), is the official visitor and business tourism service for Hertfordshire. It works with attractions, accommodation and destinations across the county to promote Hertfordshire to local, national and international visitors. It is responsible for supporting and growing the county's tourism industry, building a resilient and sustainable visitor economy.

The programme will be delivered by Hertfordshire Futures until 31st March 2026. Further updates will be shared in the new year.

Hertfordshire's visitor economy

  1. There was strong positive recovery in the volume of trips and expenditure between 2021 (post pandemic) to 2023 (the latest data available)
  2. The visitor economy was worth £2.4bn in 2023, an increase of 53% from 2021
  3. 27.4 million visitors were welcomed during the year
  4. The number of tourism jobs increased by 27% between 2021 and 2023, to 42,973
  5. Tourism jobs accounted for 5% of total employment in Hertfordshire in 2023
  6. However the visitor economy had not recovered to pre-pandemic levels

The study uses the industry-respected Cambridge Economic Impact Model to measure the volume and value of tourism across the county, and the impact of visits and visitor expenditure on the local economy. The study is conducted every two years.
