Productions supported by Hertfordshire Film Office and local partners were recognised at this year's Royal Television Society (RTS) East Awards, highlighting the county's contribution to the East of England's thriving screen sector.
Hertfordshire Film Office (HFO) and Essex Film Office jointly sponsored the awards, joining production companies, broadcasters, local authorities, and industry professionals from across the region to celebrate excellence in television production.
Among the winners were several productions with strong Hertfordshire connections, including Strictly Come Dancing, filmed at Elstree Studios with support from HFO for on-location filming. The Orphan, an award-winning short drama filmed primarily in Stevenage and part-funded by Stevenage Borough Council in recognition of its community relevance, won in the Scripted category. Since its public release on YouTube earlier this year, the film has been viewed more than 1.7 million times, reaching audiences across the UK and beyond.
The awards highlighted the strength of the East of England's screen industry and the role Hertfordshire continues to play within it. From world-renowned studios and production companies to local authorities, suppliers, and creative businesses, the county is home to a diverse network of organisations supporting film and television production.
In 2025/26 alone, film and television production generated a record £29.1 million in local economic spend, reinforcing Hertfordshire’s reputation as one of the UK's leading destinations for screen production.
As one of Hertfordshire Futures’ key services, HFO supports productions of all sizes, helping them source locations, secure permissions, connect with local suppliers, and navigate filming logistics. The team works closely with councils, studios, and businesses to maximise the economic benefits of filming activity for local communities.
HFO also supports local talent through initiatives such as its Crew Networking Nights, which bring together freelancers, film professionals, and industry newcomers to build connections and collaboration opportunities.
From internationally recognised studios and award-winning productions to innovative local businesses, Hertfordshire remains at the heart of the East of England's thriving screen sector.
