Saving money on broadband and mobile bills

There are several ways to reduce your broadband and mobile bills. Take a look at the options below to see if you can save money.

Social Tariffs

If you receive Universal Credit, Pension Credit or certain other benefits, you might qualify for a social tariff. This is a cheaper broadband or phone deal, with no mid-contract price rises, for people on lower incomes.

How to get a social tariff: Contact your current broadband or phone provider and ask whether they offer a Social Tariff and if you're eligible.

Choosing The Right Package

Before renewing or switching providers, think about how you use the internet. If you mainly browse the web, shop online, stream TV or make video calls, you may not need the fastest package available. Use the Broadband Savvy speed checker to find out what speed is right for your household.Broadband Savvy: What broadband speed so I need?

Check how much mobile data you use each month through your provider's app or by contacting them directly. If you're regularly using less data than your allowance, switching to a smaller data package could save money. MoneySavingExpert: Mobile Data Calculator

Compare Prices

If you're out of contract, or your current contract is coming to an end, it's worth comparing deals before you renew. Comparison websites allow you to view broadband and mobile packages from different providers side by side, helping you compare prices, contract lengths, speeds, data allowances and other features. Taking a few minutes to shop around could help you find a better deal and reduce your monthly costs.
