Digital Champions

Role of a Digital Champion

A Digital Champion is a volunteer who helps residents feel more confident using digital technology. This could include helping someone get online, use a smartphone or access online services. You don't need to be a technology expert. If you're patient, understanding and enjoy helping others, you could become a Digital Champion.

  • Log into the NHS App
  • Access appointments or important forms
  • Understand emails, messages or notifications
  • Learn how to video-call family and friends
  • Access online shopping, banking or local services safely
  • Feel calmer and less stuck with everyday digital tasks

Skills and qualities:

You don't need to be an IT expert, just someone who is:

  • Patient and empathetic
  • Confident with everyday digital tasks (emails, video calls, browsing)
  • Friendly, reliable and enjoys helping others learn

Support and training

  • Introductory training in digital support and safeguarding
  • Ongoing guidance and support
